I passionately support a woman’s right to bodily autonomy. My midwifery care is holistic and continuous in nature, grounded in an understanding of the social, emotional, cultural, spiritual, psychological, and physical experiences of women.

Midwifery chose me and I’m so glad I didn’t resist my true calling. Women, their babies, and families have been the focus of four decades of my practice as a midwife.
I’m not especially awesome but I do know women ARE! My superpower is that I know how truly amazing, complete, and capable women are!
The beauty of continuity of midwifery care with your own midwife means that a mutual relationship of trust and safety develops over time. You are employing me; you are my boss, and my loyalty is to you; not an institution. This type of care is proven to result in the best outcomes for mothers, their babies, families, and communities. These outcomes are evidenced in research to importantly include psychological and physical safety, higher spontaneous labour, and vaginal birth rates. Women who have had a previous caesarean section are more likely to achieve a vaginal birth in their next pregnancy, you are less likely to have a preterm birth, pharmacological pain relief or a caesarean section. You are more likely to be more satisfied with your care and achieve your breastfeeding goals. Birth at home is more ecologically sound and has economic benefits for the wider community.
I live on a farm with my husband Donal. We have five adult children. My three daughters are now mothers themselves. They regularly say, “Everyone deserves a Mumma G”. The arrival of twin sons completed my family with all five of my children born in five years. I have been beyond blessed to be present at each of my six grandbabies’ births: the last one born at home and yet another on the way.
Long distance running is a meditative practice of endurance which protects my mental and physical well-being. My deep Christian faith holds me spiritually while I hold others.
